Hi Troy, I'd like to suggest raising attention in the ASWF #opentimelineio Slack channel for wider visibility. |

Hi OTIO maintainers,
I wanted to give you a heads-up before I submit an R OpenTimelineIO
package to CRAN.
RcppOTIO: https://github.com/cornball-ai/RcppOTIO
R bindings to the OTIO C++ library (time types, schema objects, tree
construction, JSON round-trips, edit algorithms, schema versioning).
Published through a drat repo so it can serve as an optional validation
oracle.
rotio: https://github.com/cornball-ai/rotio
A pure-R OTIO document model: reader/writer, edit algorithms, and schema
behavior, no compiled code. This is the package headed to CRAN.
Building these packages is what led me to the edit-algorithm bug fixed in
#2025: my parity tests kept disagreeing with libopentimelineio until it
turned out the disagreement was upstream.
rotio uses RcppOTIO in optional tests to validate JSON output and behavior
parity against the C++ implementation. The goal is a lightweight OTIO
package for R users that runs without a C++ toolchain, while still checking
behavior against the reference implementation where available. Both
packages are Apache-2.0 to match upstream.
Before I submit rotio to CRAN, I'd appreciate a quick once-over on:
Thanks for building OTIO!
