This fixes the use of f16 (or AMP in general) through all blocks of the DiffusionUnet. Previously, many layers were cast to float32, causing much larger memory usage during training.
Types of changes
Non-breaking change (fix or new feature that would not break existing functionality).
Breaking change (fix or new feature that would cause existing functionality to change).
Diffusion attention and UNet blocks now support additional dtype handling during autocast. The UNet propagates optional post-normalization casts, can compute embeddings in float32 with autocast disabled, and separates its output normalization, activation, and convolution. Normalization epsilon defaults change from 1e-6 to 1e-5 across the listed UNet blocks and encoder.
Resolve the checkpoint-loading and attention-precision defects before merging: existing trained models can lose their output head during loading, and requested float32 attention can still overflow in float16. Positional compatibility and low-precision embedding handling also need correction.

Keep autocast enabled for half-precision time_emb_proj weights.
When time_emb_proj weights are float16, the new branch calls the projection on float32 emb with autocast disabled. That raises a dtype mismatch. The previous code ran under autocast, which cast the inputs. Check the weight dtype before disabling autocast.

Disable autocast around attention when attention_dtype is set.
With upcast_attention=True under float16 autocast, SABlock.forward casts q, k, and v to float32. The torch.einsum calls at selfattention.py:190 and :213 still run in float16 because they reach bmm, which autocast lowers. Attention scores can overflow the float16 range and produce nonfinite outputs. Wrap the attention computation in torch.autocast(device_type=x.device.type, enabled=False) when self.attention_dtype is set. diffusion_model_unet.py:443-446 already uses this pattern for float32 embeddings.

Move the new DiffusionModelUNet options after use_flash_attention.
Inserting upcast_embeddings and cast_after_norm before dropout_cattn changes positional binding. A positional call that passes dropout_cattn as its 18th argument binds it to cast_after_norm, a truthy value that enables casting. Apply the same move to the attention and cross-attention block constructors and the get_down_block, get_mid_block, and get_up_block factories.

Guard upcast_embeddings against half-precision time_embed weights.
With upcast_embeddings=True, forward passes a float32 timestep tensor to self.time_embed. If the model was converted with .half() or .bfloat16(), the weights stay low precision, so the linear layer raises a dtype mismatch. Keep the model in float32 when using this flag, or raise a clear ValueError for low-precision time_embed weights.
