I have some face-centered data that looks like this

I want to compute the mean over space with time, so do

swe.mean(dim=["n_face"]).plot()

and I get this

I'd suggest falling back down to Xarray if you no longer have a spatial dimension, since much of UXarray's functionality is based around the attached grid.

swe.mean(dim=["n_face"]).to_xarray().plot()
