But what is the issue? Are you suggesting these packages should switch to https, perhaps? That will be trivial for the few hosted at GitHub, but may be very hard for some of the others. It's nit exactly clear to me if it is worth the effort?

Yes, suggesting to switch, eventually.

Certainly. For some this can be done immediately, for the most of others that would involve either updating their current setup or moving to GitHub pages with ReleaseTools/GitHubPagesForGAP - in the latter case, this is yet another benefit of switching to ReleaseTools/GitHubPagesForGAP.

This issue meant as advisory/reference. There is no urgency - OTOH, look at #7 and progress achieved since then (of course, establishing a repo was definitely worth more efforts).
