Bug description

I have a Poly V4320 headset and a PlayStation 5 controller (also known as a DualSense 5) paired to my laptop running Linux Mint via Bluetooth.

If the PS5 controller is on and connected to the laptop via Bluetooth, the Poly headset is unable to connect. The headset does not connect automatically when turned on, and using blueman-applet on the laptop to manually initiate the connection also fails; on the headset, there is no connection alert noise generated, and on the laptop, a "device connected" notification and a subsequent "device disconnected" notification are generated for the headset. No laptop audio is ever heard on the headset.

However, if the PS5 controller is off, the Poly headset is able to connect normally; in fact, the headset automatically connects to the laptop when the headset is turned on. If the PS5 controller is subsequently turned on, the controller is able to connect to the laptop via Bluetooth as well, and both devices are able to function with the laptop normally.

Steps to reproduce

  • Pair a Poly V4320 headset and a PS5 controller to a Linux Mint installation via Bluetooth (similar hardware might also be able to reproduce the issue).
  • Establish a Bluetooth connection with the PS5 controller.
  • Attempt to establish a Bluetooth connection with the Poly headset.

Expected behavior

The Bluetooth peripherals should be able to connect and function regardless of what order they are connected in.
