How to tell if a cell has completed?

In previous versions there was always some indicator that a code cell was still executing or had completed. As far as I can tell in the latest version though, I have to expand a cell, scroll down, and check for the little green check mark to figure out if something has finished yet or not. Am I overlooking some other indicator? If this is really the only way to tell, can we please bring back an indicator that doesn't require expanding and scrolling every time?
