Could you make it work with react 17.0?

Yes, it's dead. Use my fork instead. Add "react-native-markdown-renderer": "github:baochungit/react-native-markdown-renderer#master" to your package.json

v4.0.0 requires React >=18.0.0 as a peer dependency. This is a documented breaking change in the v4 release. React 17 is no longer supported. Please upgrade to React 18+ to use v4.
