Interestingly, the WCA export does not provide result data in chronological order. This makes the competition IDs unsorted (2007 competitions come before 2005).

We should instead use a regular expression to extract the year from the competition ID and then sort competitions by year before generating the tensor.

Or even better, does the WCA provide an additional export with competition dates? Then we can sort by actual date, instead of simply grouping by year.

Yep - in the downloaded zip, the WCA_export_Competitions.tsv file, there are separate year, month, day columns for when the competition started. (Also endMonth, endDay, but I think the starting date is enough?)
